Contacts VS Eyeglasses

In the past, contact lenses were a real inconvenience to use. They were hard lenses that you could not sleep in and they had to be taken out after 12 hrs. The only reason why people wore them at all is because of how ugly prescription glasses were.

Today we have don't need to hide the fact that we wear glasses because we can find a wide variety of frames to suit any occasion. If you want a pair of conservative looking glasses for the office it's no problem and you can get them in a variety of colors to match your work look. Then, when you want to go out to for an evening on the town maybe you want to change the look or your glasses - this is also no problem. All of the big designer eyeglasses are available to be fitted with prescription lenses allowing you to have that cool look and be able to see at the same time

Contact lenses have come a long way in the last 25 years. Today's lenses are made of a soft flexible material that feels more natural in the eye, and you can get disposable lenses so you don't have to worry about cleaning the lenses or losing them. Today's contact lenses are also available in different colors, so if you want to change the look of your eye color from brown to green or blue you can do that. The downside remains the same, you still need to stick them in your eye, they still have the feel of something that does not belong in your eye and they can still fall out and the worst possible moment. Imagine being in a dance club and suddenly you cannot see from one eye because a contact fell out. If this happens, you have very few choices: you can take out the other contact and put on the glasses I hope you brought with you or you can just see from one eye.

Another advantage to eyeglasses over contacts is that with a simple change in the shape or style of your glasses you can totally change your look where as with contacts you can only change the color of your eyes and even that is only useful when someone is talking to you up close, from across the room no one can see your eye color. Whereas with glasses anyone looking at you from up close or across a crowded room will see your glasses and will instantly perceive the look you were going for.

If you are embarrassed by having to wear glasses you are better off getting lasik surgery so you don't have to worry about wearing either glasses or contacts rather than having to go through the hassle of putting in contact lenses every day. However, you should know ahead of time before they do the laser surgery that they need to cut part of the cornea and every few years you may need to have the surgery done again.

All in all, it is my opinion that people are better off purchasing more than one pair of glasses for different occasions rather than going with contact lenses.
